pelvic floor dysfunction
Struggling with postpartum incontinence?
Pelvic Floor Dysfunction (PFD) is a common postnatal condition, occurring in 1/3 of women after childbirth. PFD encompasses a broad spectrum of neuromuscular disorders related to the muscles and organs of the pelvic floor, occurring as a result of the gravitational stress on the pelvic floor in pregnancy and in childbirth.
Symptoms include: chronic pain and discomfort, urinary or fecal incontinence, pain during intercourse, and in sever cases, pelvic organ prolapse. These functional issues cause great discomfort for mothers after childbirth, and if untreated in the months following delivery, can persist throughout her lifetime.
